Core Programs

  • Academic Skills – Every student receives rigorous academic education based on a curriculum based on the California Content Standards and the Common Core State Standards at every level, regardless of ability level. The curriculum is designed to improve students’ ability to communicate, solve problems, and make decisions so they may successfully navigate through life.
  • Social Skills – The comprehensive social skills curriculum at New Vista School, which is founded on research, is incorporated into every facet of the kids’ educational experience. As a result, the students have the chance to hone their social skills throughout the day and in various contexts. The school places a high priority on teaching kids social skills since the school is aware that these abilities will significantly impact their performance as adults.
  • Behavioral Skills – Students who exhibit school values and classroom expectations are rewarded through the implementation of a positive behavior support program that is implemented across the entire school. The daily classroom expectations are reviewed and visually posted. A point system is used in each class to reward students who are acting in accordance with the school’s ideals and with regard to the rules of the classroom. Privileges accrued by students include free dress days, awards, and school-wide recognition.
  • High School Transition Skills – The New Vista School Transition program equips children with the social, academic, and life skills they will need as adults. With the aid of a practical, real-world approach that includes on-the-job training and first-hand experiences, students are given the chance to learn these abilities. In order to create post-high school goals and plans that best meet each student’s unique needs, the school collaborates with parents and the administration.
