Meet Christy Hygienist in Laguna Hills
Christy has been a practicing hygienist for 40 years. Starting with a dental hygiene degree from Indiana University her curiosity for cultural diversity and passion for the arts soon took her from the Midwest to New York City. Landing in a periodontal practice there laid the foundation for honing her clinical and communication skills, not to mention indulging in her love of theatre, music, museums and food. After a few years Christy shifted her focus to the west coast landing in Hollywood, California. There, working in a practice with a husband and wife DDS team, she was able to elevate her skills to the next level implementing a soft tissue management program to fight bacterial inflammation of the gingiva in a collaborative team environment. It was during these years she met her husband who had a career in the music business and together they pursued their love of architecture and golf eventually moving to Palm Springs. There Christy became part of a periodontal team for the next 10 years where she earned a certificate of nutrition from the Institute for integrative nutrition in New York, practicing integrated health as it relates to oral health.
Christy believes communicating the research correlating bacterial inflammation in the mouth and disease in the body helps her patients gain the knowledge needed to affect their overall health. Losing her husband to cancer brought Christy to Laguna Beach a couple years ago where she has been thriving in the welcoming community. When she’s not working she enjoys hiking in the hills behind her house, golfing, surfing and enjoying time with good friends and her family.
